Upload Video – Step 1

Thank you for your interest in sharing your story.

Registering is easy and quick. Once you click register, down at the bottom of this page, you will be directed to a page where you can add personal information about your video prior to posting your digital video file.

We realize not everyone has the capability to shoot digital video using your webcam, your FlipCam, cell phone or digital camera. If your video is shot on VHS, Mini-DV, 8mm, et cetera, you can mail it in to the BCTD and we’ll convert it to digital for you. Visit the contact us page for a mailing address.

Keep in mind, you can also visit your public library or local union hall to make use of their computers and webcams if applicable.

Here are some tips for shooting before you begin:

  • Are you working now? How long have you been unemployed during the past two years?

  • Are you on unemployment? Would your benefits stopped if Congress had not just passed an extension (i.e. have you used more than 26 weeks)?

  • Are you on unemployment? Would your benefits stopped if Congress had not just passed an extension (i.e. have you used more than 26 weeks)?

  • How has this recession affected your family?

  • Have you had to cut back on school supplies, groceries, or needed home repairs?

  • What would you have done without unemployment benefits?

  • Has a spouse or child had to take an (extra) job to make ends meet?

  • Have you had to move to a more affordable house, or are you struggling to make mortgage payments?

  • How has the recession affected your friends? Don’t use their full names in the video without their permission.

  • Have you called your elected officials or attended a town hall meeting? Did you ask them to pass jobs legislation? What did they say?

  • Do you know of overcrowded schools near your home, structurally deficient bridges, roads riddled with potholes, sewer lines that overflow, or an energy project that has been shelved?

  • We encourage you to finish your video by asking your elected officials (by name, if you know who they are) to pass jobs legislation, and put you back on the job, so you can start rebuilding this country
